Degaussing

Critical Process for 100% Data Destruction

Physical destruction of data storage devices technically does not remove data. It just make the devices unusable and data unreasonable to retrieve. Even if it had passed through a shredder, shredded pieces still has data in it.

For example; “If a magnet is break into small pieces, each of the broken small pieces are still magnetic .Hard drives work the same way”.

Degaussing is the process of decreasing or eliminating a remnant magnetic field and will leaves the magnetic domains in random patterns with no preference to orientation, thereby rendering previous data unrecoverable.

DessgusorSYH offer secured On-site and Off-site degaussing service

We provide secured On-site and Off-site data degaussing services to tailor for our client needs. We can custom design a program that best meets your data security needs and reporting requirements.

Our NSA approved degausser together with the tape and hard drive degaussing service option are fully compliant with National institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication Series 800-88, U.S. Department Of Defense (DoD) Standard 5220.22-M (Sanitization) and NSA/CSS Policy Statement 9-12, “NSA/CSS Storage Device Sanitization” Our Degasser are re-verified annually by the manufacturer.

List of SYH I.T Asset Destruction and Recycling Services and Features:

  • Documentation of serial number for inventory record and asset tracking
  • On-site Storage media devices Shredding
  • Off-site Storage media devices Shredding
  • On-site Degaussing and crushing
  • Off-site Degaussing and crushing
  • Secure storage bins and lock boxes for transit ensure safe handling of assets
  • Certification and reports of destruction and recycling
  • HDD diagnostics service/ verification

On-Site Degaussing plus crushing

We provide on-site degaussing and crushing service for client whom places great emphasis on validation and data security, which they will witness the whole data destruction process at their location thus maintaining the highest level of security and eliminating any chain of custody dilemmas.

All storage media devices will be documented for reporting and accountability. After the degaussing process, storage media devices cannot be reused and all firmware is destroyed, they will then be physical destructed by crushing.

Storage bins and lock containers for transit ensure safe handling of destructed storage media devices once removed and to be transported back to our facility for disposal and recycling.

Reports and certificate of data destruction are provided for reporting and accountability that the data was sanitized and destructed in compliance with:-

  • S. Department of Defense (DoD) Standard 5220.22-M (Sanitization)
  • NIST Special Publication 800-88: Guidelines for Media Sanitization
  • NSA/CSS Policy Statement 9-12, “NSA/CSS Storage Device Sanitization”
  • Singapore Personal Protection Act 2012

On-Site Degaussing Plus Shredding

We also provide off-site data destruction services, we have extensive experience and unsurpassed capabilities with destruction of digital data which enable us to support and provide Offsite data destruction services at our secure processing facility. We do not out-source the degaussing service to third party so as to maintain the strictest chain of custody and protecting our client confidential data.

Storage media devices will be collected by our professional staff, documentation and recording before packing and sealing it into the provided storage bins and lock containers for transit back to our processing facility.

Our train professional staff in the facility with the presence of the client’s witness, will then break-seal and tally all storage media devices collected before degaussing and shredding at our processing facility.

Reports and certificate of data destruction are provided for reporting and accountability that the data was sanitized and destructed in compliance with:
